Build it up with silver and gold,...........
Silver and gold will be stolen away,
Stolen away, stolen away,
Silver and gold will be stolen away,
My fair Lady.
The third and final 'London Bridge' for now... (not immediately visible, but the bus is on it!).
By the 1300s the bridge contained 140 shops, some of which were more than three stories high. The reference to Silver and Gold in the rhyme relates to the trading which was conducted on the bridge. London Bridge survived the Great Fire of London in 1666 but its arches and foundations were weakened. Buildings with thatched roofs were subsequently banned in London and this was only lifted with the construction of the New Globe Theater in 1994.
Iso 400, f11, 1/320s, 20mm, tripod and remote release. (High Iso because I wanted to keep the bus still with a high shutter speed and I was bracketing exposures, the sun was sinking fast and the buses were quite spaced out).
Many thanks for your response to "Iron & Steel", and to Paul and Lin for their valued UAs. Helen... yes, you were quite correct with the title!.

What a beautiful scene. With the reflections in the buildings and a wonderful sunset.
The string of lights on the left is amazing! Great composition.

I like this one Dave as it has created texture on sky and reflection. Composition excellent.
Light, well a lot of dark area. Well done. WesternRed.
Quite a unique capture I am certain with the light coming through the bus - well deserved U.A. from me too ![]()

Seems a more secure bridge than the last one - though not sure if the silver and gold are quite as secure these days - chuffed to get the title right - I look forward to "stones so strong" when you return to bridges ![]()

100 out of 20 for the right moment to press the shutter Dave, the composition and time of day also top marks, overall should get loads of awards, would have got mine but not until next Sat.

Trev.
A real beauty this, Dave, and perfectly timed to get the setting sun shining through the bus
And that sky's just super...think I might just have to part with my UA, too, on this one ![]()

Hi Dave, another fantastic image in your series, and thanks again for your camera settings and info, still cant get my head around this low light shot, capturing the bus and people so still in the frame and getting the exposure correct.

Fanstastic comp Dave, very strong detail again, and a most dramatic looking sky.............how much did you pay the driver on the bus to stop there.....lol. Very nice work.
Thanks for pointing out issue with my lily,
Paul.
When your eye discovers the sunlight shining through the bus window you just have to smile. Inspired stuff Dave and well deserving of all the Awards.
At the risk of being accused of throwing myself under the bandwagon please accept yet another UA
Derek
