The Harry Potter imges seemed to go down well, thank you very much for all the comments, and to Garry for his UA.

Out in the Essex countryside for this one - Beauchamp Roding (pronounced Beecham) near Chipping Ongar. The church is quite separate from the village and is known locally as the 'church in the fields'. I braved the hayfever and climbed halfway up the tree for this view.

ISO 200, 1/30, f22, 24mm. Taken in the middle of the afternoon with a polariser filter but not at the best angle for the deepest blue. Straightened, cropped, dust bunnies removed along with a couple of stray, dead twigs. Topaz de-noised et voila!

The yellow of the rape is beautiful offset against the blue of the sky.
Like the way the sun is glancing off the leaves of the tree also.

Your climbing skills/exertions have proved so valuable in managing to include the overhanging oak (?) branches giving an image composed of thirds which works wonderfully well IMHO, but still managing to keep the Church at the intersection of thirds.
I think this image is just perfect, Dave.

Nicely balanced image that makes the most of the yellow base. The church is perfectly placed. I'm also envisaging this as a square crop which would also retain the perfect placement of the church Smile

exactly what I have been looking for, not the rape field but the church beyond - loads of rape fields here but not with such a perfect focal point as for the tree forget that (I cant even climb stairs so trees are out) as for the ruddy polarizor I never see a difference when I turn it - perhaps I need a lesson or two/threeWink 10 out of 10 for this one Dave I love it

Beautiful colour contrast, Dave. I hardly use PL filter, I tried once last week. The sky was blue, but the figure is dark colour, at the end, I had to use flash to compensate the light loss...i think it looks better with clouds in the sky.
Actually I feel the yellow looks better on this image, not that sharp bright.. I alway feel that they don't match British sky. BTW, is the field not level?Smile

Who says shooting in bright high sunlight can't work?! Bold contrasting blue and yellow create energy, there's a great focal point in the church and enough angle to the light to give relief. Personally I love the framing with the leaves because of the highlights on some of them with gives added depth, without that I'd be less keen on them. If I were to change anything then I'd say because the yellow is such a dominant colour in this comp, you could get away with cropping off the lower half of the field (i.e. the nearest part to you) which would make more of a feature of the branches, perhaps a 7x5 frame?

Regards
Al

Yes this works exceptionally well Dave. I've seen plenty of images with the rape and a church in the distance, but its the leaves at the top that make this stand out from the crowd, especially with the sunlight on them - well thought out - well I assume you thought it out rather than were just climbing trees WinkWinkWink
