Looking through one of the fountains in Trafalgar Square, down The Mall with 'Big Ben' and Westminster Abbey in the distance. The colour 'popping' is a natural consequence of the backlighting. v2 has been given a bit more light to show the detail in the buildings - I couldn't make my mind up which to lead with. I'd actually gone here to 'test drive' my wife's new camera (Finepix HS20EXR) and to see what the new statue on the 4th plinth looked like (
).
Many thanks for your clicks/comments on Dove Lake, and to Jat_Riski for the UA. Greatly appreciated.

A nice combination of light, dark, sparkle and blur. I like it.
v2 for me very good capture, good shutter choice.

A nice couple Dave. V2 more light. Well done. WesternRed.
Love the vitality and the proportions of this particularly well-conceived photo: excellent choice of pov and focal length.
V2 helps to explain V1, which at first glance is more mysterious; but that in its turn makes V1 my preference.
Regards
Bill
Great comp .. V1 is my favourite
Really cant work out where you were to take this one ?????
A super capture, Dave - like both, but V1 wins it for me ![]()

For me it's v2 without a doubt. Outstanding composition and great impact Dave.

Great idea, and V2 works best for me.
I must try a shot like this when the Water isn't falling from the other direction.

Marvellous, Dave. This would look fantastic blown up (no, not a bomb in the fountain) and hanging on a wall. LOve that bluish hue.

Ah, you have splashing water too - glad all that was not running down my car window today ![]()

For me the extra detail that v2 brings out makes it my first choice. I particularly like the detail towards the bottom of the picture

I am a great fan of the Fuji as is my son, started off with the 9500 and it never let me down - I think your wife will get on well with it
good shots today
These have fabulous impact Dave! Backlighting makes the water really exciting. I'm going to be awkward (suprise!) and suggest you take the best from both to create "one image to rule them all!" I think the basin downwards in V2 is superior due to the better highlight on the overspill which is more interesting. The fringes on either side have more drama in V2 but the central third of V1 is wonderfully lightsabre-like and more exotic... Happy blending! ![]()

small print: final image is in no way guaranteed to look better than either original.
Two great shots, the composition with the buildings peeking through is excellent & well thought out.Think V2 just has that extra sparkle ![]()
Great shot Dave.
The greater detail in V2 works better for me.
David
Super capture with wonderful light. Different treatments in these and they both have a different look - like them both; v1 is more dramatic, v2 more realistic.
Anne
Both beautiful shots Do prefer V2. -- - so that's how I got splashed! ![]()

V2 for me but it was a close thing. And not a sign of the 32 mounted branch officers lol
