I suppose it does!
It's funny how you can get blinkered - I always really like bright t-shirts for climbing photos and I'd applied that same rule to this without really thinking. Now you've said it, I can't imagine why I hadn't realised before that the shirt colour makes the photo really, doesn't it?!

Great pose, how long did he have to hold it!! Interest choice of format, would a portrait crop emphasise the height more?

I agree with WhiteRose1 that the portrait format would have given more impact to the photo.
I is a fine image as it is and full of interest.

Hi Lianna, v2 is superb. Accentuates the height perfectly. The climber fits in that 'niche' to make an excellent composition. Under most other circumstances the expanse of blue sky would make a great negative space but this image is all about height and climbing upwards and the portrait crop reinforces that greatly. A brilliant image and one that you frequently see in climbing magazines.

Maybe I should send this off to Climb or Climber and see what they think... and regarding your question about holding the pose, Stu knows what he's doing on rock and this wasn't posed at all, just taken as he was shaking out before commiting to the next hard move.
