This was taken on a very wet night this October just before the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Reichstag is my favourite building in Berlin and I think a fantastic example of good modern architecture
The glass dome of the Reichstag reflects natural light into the new German parliament building. It symbolises the openness they want to characterise government after the unification of the country and following its troubled past. At night when this was taken the dome reflects the article light within the chamber.
The Dome was designed by the English Architect Sir Norman Foster, it makes the Reichstag an incredible mix of old and new that seems to sum up the hope the nation has for the future.
