Part of information stand near the pithead. Hard times indeed but is it harder these days with no real jobs for youngsters ?
Great comment.................and a great image of a time all but gone now.
fine image here Rod back breaking stuff indeed probably hard but happyish mono treatment is on the money fine tones ...the young need jobs for sure .....Yes, Rod there was a wee touch of HDR in the image today thanks for you comments appreciated.
A great mono image Rod
Never a truer point said Rod. Really like the processing of the plaque. This must be the main seam, on the side seams they could be working on their sides because of the height restrictions.
A true statement Rod - and those hard times are here in the different way ! A really great capture !!
A true sign of the times and a statement so very poignant at these increased times of hardship for today's youngsters. "I'm personally in very much favour for National DService or some for of long term conscription, it would certainly solve a many of the countries issues which Politician so quickly dismiss and sweep them under the carpet which has over the years grown to have a monumental lump in the middle.
Yer so right Nathan the carpet looks like Quasi Modo . Iam not sure the answer is conscription though , iam basically anti anything military but that's just my opinion but we certainly need to improve the outlook for todays generation. We could bring back heavy industry instead of buying cheap **** fae Asia that would be a start ! In an independent Scotland all will be rosy lol (and the fitba team will win some games lol). Take care my friends south of the border
Strong image - you were lucky to have some decent light and shadow to show up the textures and detail. This needs the harsh feel.
I'd like to skew the top right corner up a degree. But the mine itself probably didn't have a single true right angle in it...
We have the same debate locally, our town is basically four pit villages that spread and merged. It's part of our history, we don't forget it. But there are still a lot of families that are mourning the men killed in various disasters,...
Yeah Moira spot on , it is a part of our history but it could have been so more , most of these pits could have gone on producing coal and employing men. The top right corner was an issue with me but as you said that was the conditions so I thought it quite appropriate to leave it squint Thanks again for your helpful/insightful comments

Hi Ken Wales , Scotland and the North East of England were all hit hard by the Tories ................................... mmm I wonder why
Great texture and detail, works well in mono.
Lovely textured shot made even more so in the mono
Nice work, Rod, not an easy subject but you have done well, detail and textures are excellent.
Excellent capture, and carper is right - very tricky thing to get right. The tonal range and detail are great, and yes, the texture is virtually palpable.
