Cheers Erik , Maurice and John thanks for the comments
Wild and attractive. (They said that about me 50 years ago.)
I liked the delicate toning and the 'treatment' of the sky.
bleak dreich drab grim gritty and cauld gets the message across well Rod works for me
The processing emphasises the starkness of the scene, like it.
These war veterans are tougher than one think A great image Rod !

Nice one Rod. That sky is scary in a sneak-up-behind-you-with a cheese-wire kind of way.
Love the toning, it contributes massively.
I love a lonely tree, great shot Rod,great processing as well, one of your best.
Awwwww thanks Graham most unexpected UA . Iam well chuffed with that
Great image and well chosen title.
Super Rod, well worked, love the toneing
Hi Roddy, "grimly" is good as it's getting close to the "brutal" that I see. Hard, brittle tree against soft but threatening clouds. Do you think you could just pop out & shoot this again in HP5, develope it to death, print it on the hardest paper for max grain, then wash in ice cold water to reticulate. "Only a ten minute job" as my manage would say, but you would turn a great image into a Masterpeice! Best regards, Si
Cheers Si , brutal it is my man its a brutal place As for all that teccie stuff iv'e nae got a clue whit your talkin aboot ! Is that Landan speak
Poor little tree.....but you have brought bleak beauty to life. Love this wonderful image and processing.
