Popped down to The Bridge at Crossways, Dartford this morning. I was hoping for mist but instead was rewarded with no wind and perfect reflections, pretty rare on a major river.

Quote: That is a stunner Derek. I've never seen it this calm before, infact never seen a decent shot of this bridge full stop. Top job!
I have never seen it this calm either Harsharn.
Thanks for the comments guys and many grateful thanks to Clive for his GEA and Harsharn and Yung for their UA's.
Stunning. The light must have been to die for.

I have only photographed the bridge previously at sunset but knew that when low light hits the structure it takes on a pretty impressive red glow. I had a tense time waiting for the sun and praying that the wind didnt pick up though.
A slack tide and no wind - perfect conditions and a great angle on this bridge, Derek. If only I could get up that early ![]()

6.55 am on the Metadata Dave. Almost civilized!
Quote: Absoltely stunning shot Derek. I take it there was a polarising filter involved. Brilliant.
Jason
No polariser.
3 stop ND Grad (soft) and a 10 stop ND Filter.
Can't add anything. All been said. Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rare indeed, you got a perfect mirror like reflection though, it looks fabulous. I've spent the past week in Valencia cursing ripples ![]()
Quote: Beautiful light and tones Derek, absolute stunner! This gets my virtual UA as I already have given the real one out today..sorry ![]()
No problem. Good as the real thing wolfy.
That's a superb image, Derek. I shake my head in wonder. Brilliant work and up there with your very best. I'm green with envy, m8. (No UA available at the mo so accept a virtual one and if we ever meet it'll be my round.)

Had to wait up to give this my UA, Derek - cheaper than a pint ![]()

Quote: Time to give this the real thing now ![]()
Ok I lied. The real thing is better
Many thanks wolfy.
Impressive, Derek.
With the strong geomentry of the bridge and its reflection and the featureless, intense blue sky and water, I reckon that a mono conversion would be even better - if such a thing is possible!
Top work. ![]()
