Thanks to all who left encouraging comments on yesterday's upload, and especially to Nezih (Nonur) for his U.A. It is rewarding to note the recent upsurge in appreciation for b&w documentary photography.

Nonetheless I'm posting colour today. I noticed this on a slipway in Sheringham, Norfolk. It is in the orientation in which I found it so I have helpfully included the wording from the pulley as a title for anyone who can no longer stand on their head or invert their monitor Smile

Subtle colour and wonderful diagonals, I just love stones forced between others or planks of wood, how did they get there? Appreciation for the caption, standing on my head was never a Salteri family sport, the older I get standing upright becomes enough of a sporting activity for me. Tongue

Dougie

Got everything going for it this one - texture, diagonals, tones, composition and subject interest. Nice one. GrinGrin

Jeff is right Bill.
It would make a splendid poster for my bedroom.
The rust would compliment nicely next to my Playboy Bunnies calendar.
(Now don't be getting any ideas for that calendar you and Moira are shooting !!)
Mick.

Classic thirds with a strong diagonal underlay, and lots of well exposed detail. What more could you ask.

I do like that angle you captured this shot on Bill, good comp and detail, the small rocks just add nicely to the over all capture.

I must admit, my taste runs to the more artistic shots, and this one is a winner! Subtle understatement.

Metal, stone, wood and rope all combined in one shot, rust and what looks like a fishing hook between the rope wood and stone a bit shiny on the right, would not surprise me if a fish popped up any second, a great shot very well taken, like it!, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Beautifully composed Bill, with a wonderful range of textures to appeal to the eye. I love how rocks seem to get lodged in different places. Wouldn't be the same photo without them, they add that bit of randomness that make it more interesting to view.

Great composition Bill - and I love the texture and colour of that wood contrasting with the pully thingy and the stones. I really like this. Smile
Ann
Just having another look at it - would a square crop work taking off the bottom bit?
