While Mrswoolybill was talking to the painter of Work In Progress and Once Upon A Time In The North and taking her memorable series of photos she probably expected me to stand around kicking my heels and admiring the show. As she has explained, I didn't take a Nikon or three with me because the weather forecast was dire.........She entirely failed to remember that I still had the Emergency Lumix; she also entirely failed to notice the faded gem on the other side of the road.

It is a painted representation, full-sized, of a shop front, an old-fashioned General Store, probably overseen by the stammering wraith of some Arkwright or other. Version 1 is cropped, to concentrate on the remaining detail; Version 2 is the original, giving some idea of the lamentable state the painting has fallen into. Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of the complete frontage as the pavement was narrow and the traffic heavy. But I will show you the door one day - doors deserve a space of their own.

Excellent capture Bill super but deteriorating detail. A great historical record as I don't suppose it will last much longer.

Lovely images, I must say I do like the crop. Loads of detail, those faded colours are really nice. Would make a lovely print this, well spotted.

Excellent images Bill. It's amazing Moira missed this. Your eye must be keener. Thank goodness for the Lumix.
As for my image, you got me there. Point conceeded, this time. Gave me a good laugh this morning.

This looks so superb, i cannot image it as a freshly painted image as i dont think it would have half the charm or character that the years have ravished on it

Well seen. Lots of great detail here both in the painting it self and in the way it is deteriorating.

Not any more, they won't be and isn't it a bit early for the Christmas images?
Great detail and I prefer #2, simply because stepping back a bit is a bit more convincing of looking in a real window.

I await with anticipation and bated breath for THE DOOR !!!!
What an excellent comment you make with ''doors deserve a space of their own''.
What a wonderful bit of ''lamentableation'' here with the paintwork.
(Just another word in Mikbees dictionary.) A good example of the three Gs here.(Grotty,Grimey,Grubby.) A super find Bill, and it is IWIHTT.
Mick.
