View from the foot of the Monk Bar, the tallest of the four gatehouses in the medieval walls of York (the other three are Bootham Bar, Walmgate Bar and Micklegate Bar).
The top of the Monk Bar holds the Museum dedicated to Richard III, the King still making the headlines almost 528 years after his death.

Thanks to Dave (WhiteRose1) for placing his esteemed U.A. on yesterday's upload overnight!

Taking low key to another level. Enough light to distinguish the detail, though, and an excellent perspective up to the studded door.

I wonder if the King's feet ever graced these steps before he parked his car for the last time?

Yes, I just read about that interesting discovery of his remains. I wonder if he will end up in Westminster Abby with his peers after all.
This is beautifully sinister.

I was going to comment earlier but the 'phone rang with an aggressive female voice informing me for the umpteenth time about PIP and how time is running out for me.
If i could get my hands on her she'd find time was running out for HER!
But back to your image: I remember when we visited York in the 1990's we walked round the old city walls and stopped at all the Gates.
An excellent and mysterious low light interior shot, and one where I am surprised that only -0.33 EC was needed.
The finding of the King's remains under a car park has made some fascinating viewing, and no doubt additional artefacts will now be added to the exhibition above.
Ronnie.

This is superb, what a use of available light. This has got such a fantastic feel to it, less is definitely more.
I feel alone, trapped at the foot of the stairs, looking at the light for salvation, will it come or won't it?
Brilliant.

A very thought provoking shot Bill, perfect processing.
And yes, the Car Park king will probably receive a hell of a Fine for being there so long.
