For an explanation see under Heavenfield 1.
I have toned this particular image differently to the others as somehow it felt more appropriate.

More flowers - love the inclusion of the shaped edge at the bottom. Good choice of the echoed tombstone - toning works well.
You've said before that images uploaded on Saturdays are not always given a good response - but I hope this one is ![]()

I do like this toning Bill.
I’m sure the straight mono would have been just as good.
I like the composition and detail captured.

Excellent work, Bill. The toning is a good choice, but as already said, I suspect the straight b&w is just as good.
I am intrigued by the inscription "Died At Wall"
Is that a placename?

Very nicely composed and processed Bill, great Photography.

Good framing, Bill, with the archway in the background echoing the gravestone. The lighting's perfect for picking out the detail in the stonework ![]()

Yes, there is a village called Wall! It's about five mile NW of Hexham, near the line of the Roman wall; its pub is called The Hadrian. We have to play the name game for all we're worth up here if we want tourism to flourish.
Other pubs along the line of the Wall are The Milecastle Inn (relevance obvious), the Twice Brewed (relevance to beer obvious) and The Robin Hood (no relevance to anything that I know of: it was called that long before the tree at Sycamore Gap was used in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves so we can discount that one).
At least the deceased died at Wall and not of Wall ![]()
Shame his name wasn't Max, it's not the strangest name for a village by any means, Dull is a village in Perthshire if I recall correctly, not the liveliest of places I hear.
I like the focus in this again Bill and the bokeh, the colour is your choice not mine sadly. I can't afford the stamp for the Postcard.

I have added a 'normal' black & white (very slightly toned as is my wont) and, for good measure, the original colour image for comparison.
I must say that I do really prefer V2 has a great deal of depth, I enjoyed greatly the PM with these wonderful place names from Durham.

Very well executed photo and the toning really works. S
'Happy to be the Vote,...to bestow You "the Reader's Choice",' Bill~~![]()
Superlative {A++++} DOF, tones, details, texturing, & Composition, on All {3} Image renderings~
Real tough choice,...but I will 'go with v1,' just barely above the other Two, which could 'stand alone
as superb Images,' themselves~

Terrific toning and detail in these Bill, v1 was the correct choice as the lead IMHO
like the arch of the stone with the arch of the church.. good image.
