The ramshackle building in the background, featured atmospherically in John (Lifesnapper)'s portfolio recently (V2 in this set, is protected by a stout barbed-wire fence. The myriad flowers that adorn the roadside and beach at Dungeness are more capable of looking after themselves.

What a brilliant capture Bill. Great lighting, focusing and Colour. And yes, I thought that might be the old 'Decca Radar Testing Station' in the BG (Info from Ray 42)Smile
And thanks for the mention, but that has nothing to do with my award this Morning, I just LOVE the picture.

WOWeee! Thanks, John, I am deeply grateful. I am only sorry you didn't get the opportunity to take this yourself - two days after your visit the weather was much improved and above all the wind had dropped.
Thanks for passing on the added info. from Ray, too.

It does take a few days in a place to see some decent weather that suits our purpose, you need a lot of luck to find it on day one. Not a poppy insight up here as yet so this had a particular charm for me Bill. A tremendous composition with the old building forming the backdrop and adding a touch of nature in the suburban environment.

The light and saturated colour of those great poppies is wonderful. Love this.

Very attractive image and I do like the contrast between the softness of the petals and the hardness of the OOF machine. You have done well to retain detail in the poppy petals, so often this is lost by over saturation.

The wonderful thing about Nature: it doesn't need humans for it to thrive.

Fantastic shot Bill, great DOF separating building and flowers nicely.
It's almost as if the poppies have grown in remembrance of how the building used to be.

My favourite colour Bill,
and I am sure there are plenty grotty pics to see from you here again.
Sounds very mysterious to hear it was a radar testing station.
Or perhaps I have just been watching too many X-Files on the telly !!

Some photographers make good use of light in their pictures and in this case an excellent example.

Echo the comments and awards already placed here.
