Another shot of the Currick on Knapside Hill above my home, taken just before sunset. The Currick is defined as a chambered cairn which contains a burial, also it has been suggested some may just have been prehistoric horizon markers. Quite a few of them are dotted about in the landscape here, not all of them mark a summit or horizon which tends to suggest they contain a burial. Who knows what may lie under this one, maybe an urn with the remains of some local tribal leader.

good intro full of intrigue great picture with good pov
A nice rocky lead in to stumble over while reaching the summit John. Nice composition and, though it must have been cold up there, you have given this a warm feel.
Andy
Looks like it was cold

Lovely composition. There was some lovely light when you took this
Looks incredibly cold!
Helen
Cold, bleak, desolate for a resting place. the golden light on the left-hand foreground stones only adds to the coldness. Strong image.

Seizing the moment to perfection once again, John. Perhaps a Cumbrian Barbarossa or Arthur awaits the call beneath the cairn......
Bill
A very interesting write up about this mound of rocks, which make me see it in a completely different light.
You have a wonderful DoF & I like how the sun is just catching the foreground rocks.
Hilary
Looks very barren, and very cold. I'm pleasantly surprised the mound has been allowed to stay there, undisturbed.
Anne
Great light on the stones in the foreground, superbly composed.
Such a stark winter image. The history behind this photo makes it even more interesting. Well taken.

Amazing landscape.
I think your landscapes were a big reason why I decided to take up and focus on landscape photography. So thankyou!
Any constructive criticism you can give to my lanscapes would be great. Have plenty I have collected from my travels over the last 9 months.
Had a cup of tea with toast on the way down to the comment box .lol
