This reminds me of an old Dracula film that I saw many years ago. The tension was rising very nicely and, just as Dracula appeared at the sleeping girl's window, someone in the audience shouted out *Hi fans, I'm Elvis". The audience, who had been very quiet up to that point, burst out laughing and the rest of the film just degenerated into a comedy.
For that alone this works for me. Andy
