This picture was taken some time ago. With a point and shoot compact on brighton marina, i liked the way the railings and its shadow draw you in. And the couple walking down seem to grab your attention for a moment. would welcome your C&C as usual and thanks for looking

There is nothing wrong with the image as a record shot of Brighton Marina, Robert, and the railings and shadow are good.
You have managed to get everything in good focus, even the railing in the foreground, there is excellent perspective and colour. The light is good and it's a joy to see a blue sky.
So, what could you have done to make it better? My feeling is that the two boards on the left are too prominent in the image, and if you had moved forward a few steps, you could have eliminated them completely. I do like the couple walking along, but those cafe boards keep pulling my eye to the left.
I also feel that the image could do with the inclusion of more of the marina, so that you included the cafes, promenade and also some more boats. Having said that, there is a nice balance to your composition, and you have nicely placed the railing into the bottom right corner. So, my main niggle is the boards.
