I'm no expert in this field but, having looked on the 'net, I believe this is a Scarlet Dragonfly (crocothemis erythraea??). I'd actually gone to find a lake in Halkidiki, Greece which contained various types of turtle, but then became engrossed in trying to get a shot of one of the many dragonflies there! Luckily this one stayed still long enough for me to get a reasonable pic!!
