This image i captured this week at about 04:30 am. I wanted to capture the bridge and building reflection in the river ouse. I had waited for some time for the conditions to be perfect as it required a clear night and no wind. I used a small but powerful torch to add a small amount of light to the bridge and tower to the left side of the image as there was not enough ambient light as this was the west side of the bridge. A small amount of dodging was needed to bring out the highlights and finally sharpening the image. I was pleased with the final result and i aim to do another version with star trails next.

Thank you. I was very very happy with how this turned out as I have tried in the past but not got exactly what I wanted. I have another shot to do yet just waiting for the conditions to be right. Smile

A fine opener for your p/f, Mark, a low-light capture of a bridge will get my vote Tongue. The highlights are just maybe a tad harsh. Always worth trying these shots in the 'blue hour' after sunset when there's still some light in the sky.

Yes Dave i will be doing the same shot after sunset as this will also be a good time for this location. I just need to wait for the right weather conditions ie no wind to which never seems to happen on an evening, well not for some time. I also wanted the deep blue sky in the shot which you get when facing the direction of the sun rise. Its hard to stop the street lamps blowing out though I suppose i could have exposed for the highlights and layered them in Photoshop but i quite liked the effect.

Had a look at your shot Diane and the sky is awesome, could have done with that tonight while out shooting the Minster. I believe the bridge lamps are the ones on Skeldergate bridge which i am planing doing next.
