Bulbs are what you grow! These are lamps - whatever, they have distinct possibilities.

I think I would prefer to see all the edges of the box to make the image clear. The other option would leave you with more of an abstract as the light varies the appearance dependent upon whether or not the lamp is transparent or translucent. Take your pick (as Hughie Green used to say)

PS as you are 'young photographer' I looked at your home page but you ha not told us anything about yourself, it might have made interesting reading. Why not have a go and tell us all about yourself?

Lol! I'm going to be pedantic here, these are 'light bulbs', lamps are what you put light bulbs in!!! Wink

I really like the mix of different sizes and shapes. I would leave the sides on too. Well thought out and put together!

I think the composition benefits from the box sides. It's a well manipulated, interesting picture. Well done.

I like this a lot, - creative and interesting.

The better option for this is to add top and bottom, and extend the right by selecting existing sides with the marquee tool and do a copy and paste, then some clean up with cloning. You will need to extend the canvas first, top and bottom by approx 20 pixels, and the same for the right side, to make room for the newly added sides.

I have uploaded a mod to show what I mean, and Ive also reduced highlights to get some detail back into the large light-bulb.

I hope this helps,

regards

Willie

These are lamps NOT bulbs. - FACT :- bulbs is a misnomer creeping into out language.

When you change a set of these in a factory or any unit you do a 'Lamp change' never a 'bulb change'.

Frank, heres the conundrum. I have a box of glass things I screw into fixtures, made by Phillips, they are 60W on the box, and Phillips has written Light Bulbs on the box. Not lamps. Same with general Electric, Osram, and others.

If I go to the auto shop to buy the glass thing for the front of the car to produce light, its called a headlight replacement bulb, - on the box, no matter who the maker is.

If I go to the large hardware store and ask for lamps, Im shown to the display area where table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers etc are available for purchase. The huge sign over the glass things in boxes says Light Bulbs; the huge sign over the complete fixtures says Lamps. So I think light bulbs have become common terms for lamps, common enough for manufacturers to use the terminology, whereas the whole lamp area is exclusively used by those in the technical area of lighting. They are always called Light Bulbs, NEVER just Bulbs, Bulbs are in the gardening department

So there it is. I hope this sheds some light on the current state of affairs!

Yes Willie, it is as I said "bulbs is a misnomer creeping into our language."

To me and other engineers they will always remain as lamps.

Lamps are the energy source that are fitted into luminaries.

Your link nicely describes my explanation.
