Olympus, founded in 1919, as part of their celebrations of this being their 100 year anniversary, has released a short documentary on Olympus cameras, including some history of where Olympus' design ideas and philosophies come from, and how Olympus has influenced the world of photography.

The documentary features Pulitzer Prize-winning, and Olympus Visionary Photographer Jay Dickman, Olympus pioneers, and a used camera shop technician, including others at Olympus.

Also included are the thoughts and design ideas behind the original half-frame Olympus PEN (in 1959), and the Olympus OM-1 35mm film SLR (in 1972), as well as the design process that goes in to the latest camera, the Olympus OM-D E-M1X

As part of the celebrations, Olympus has released a number of other videos, and information on other parts of the company, including Medical and Scientific, with the Medical division making up the majority of the company. You may not know this, but Olympus is the leader in gastrointestinal endoscopic equipment, with more than 70% global market share.
