British Tripod manufacturer 3 Legged Thing has added two new hybrid photo-video tripods to their Legends range.
| Tripods, Monopods and Other Supports3 Legged Thing has expanded the Legends line-up of tripods with the addition of Nicky and Tommy. These two tripods share a number of familiar features with the rest of the range while introducing a new interchangeable flat plate for photographers and a 75mm bowl mount for videographers.
Nicky is a 4-section carbon fibre tripod, that will support a load of up to 60kg, measures 1.56m when fully extended but can still be used as low as 12.4cm and the legs are detachable so the tripod can be packed into most carry-on cases. Tommy is a 3-section carbon fibre tripod with 35mm tubing, it folds down to 73cm, reaches 1.62m when fully extended and features detachable legs which, like the Nicky model, can be used as monopods and boom arms for microphones/lights or as a tabletop tripod with 3LT's Vanz tripod footwear.
Both tripods are constructed from 8 layers of 100% pure Japanese carbon fibre, and aerospace-grade, anodised magnesium alloy and come supplied with a clamshell-opening, protective nylon carry case which has 2 pockets. They also feature twist locks with O-Pads that give users improved, grip, leverage and water displacement and on the inside, both Nicky and Tommy’s locks feature the new style of Chicken Lips (shims) that give improved strength. Also, 3LT's Rapid Latch makes adjusting the leg angles quick and easy for those with impairments or wearing thick gloves.
