It doesn't matter if your reason for staying indoors is the weather, COVID-19, or, quite simply, you just don't feel like going out, we've got a few more photography themes you can have a go at while in your finest 'PJs and socks' combo at home. These particular suggestions come from our friends The School of Photography who are sharing 3 ideas to keep you occupied.

"These are tough times for us all and I just wanted to see if I could do something to help. So, I’ve come up with some photography ideas you can do while you’re at home. It might not be much, but I hope it goes somewhere to break the monotony of your days and bring you some joy in these dark times," The School of Photography.

The three suggestions are Photo Documentary Project, Flat Lay Photography and Product Photography of which you can have a go at with your DSLR, second-hand compact or smartphone.

1. Documentary Project

Documentary Project

As we're at home with loved ones, now is the perfect time to document what they're doing and by taking on a candid approach, you'll have some lovely memories to look back on at what could be described as a rather challenging time.

2. Flat Lay Photography

Flat Lay Photography

This is basically an overhead shot of several objects set out in some sort of pattern/display. You need an interesting background and plenty of window light so your shot is lit evenly then all you need to do is arrange your objects. You could even combine it with a 1-colour challenge and only place items of the same colour in from of your lens.

3. Product Photography

Product Photography

You're surrounded by objects so why not use them for a spot of still life or product photography? Again, you can use window light and throw your backgrounds out of focus with a bit of bokeh.
