Take a look at these artistic captures of abandoned places and objects that nature is reclaiming.
| General PhotographyA Reflection In Time by Matthew Hampshire
Matthew Hampshire is a photographer who travels all over Europe, seeking out abandoned places and decaying structures he can freeze in time with the help of his camera.
Among his collection of images, where time is slowly helping nature and the environment reclaim man-made structures and objects, is a haunting capture of a room half filled with pots and blue cool light emanates from the large broken window. The eye is drawn to the light but something in the darkness equally tries to pull your attention towards it.
Up next is an abandoned staircase that curves beautifully from the ground up and rather than destroying it, age has actually given it character. Staying indoors, a rusted bicycle stands against a decaying wall, its shadow adding a creative level of interest to the shot and water now fills, what looks to be, a building with a strong industrial past.
The final image we have to share with you features an old car that's slowly disappearing back into the woodland it sits in with nature covering it in moss and other plants. It's a lovely juxtaposition of machine vs the natural world.
All of Matthew's photographs are printed onto aluminium in editions of 10 and they'll be available for purchase at the Affordable Art Fair in Bristol from 8-10 September 2017. Other photographers joining Matthew include Barry Cawston, Josephine Atkinson and Andrew Millar.
Barry Cawston's photography is cinematic in approach and, coupled with a strong sense of composition, often has a painterly quality while Josephine Atkinson's project titled 'Gut Feeling' explores the importance food has to the formation of identity. Finally, Andre J Millar uses Polaroid SX-70 analogue instant film and emulsion manipulation to create amazing effects. For more information on all of the artists, visit the Affordable Art Fair website.
Previously, we've shared work by two other talented photographers, both of whom have appeared at the Affordable Art Fair, and they are Alma Haser and Roy's People.
Alma Haser teamed up with the Affordable Art Fair for a rather unique, and cute, project all about capturing images of our four-legged friends and Roy's People is an urban artist who uses miniature figures in amusing street scenarios, combining London streets with tiny still life scenes.
