The ultra-compact xD-Picture Card which measures 20x25x1.7mm and weighs a
mere 2gms, has been developed to meet the memory card requirements of the modern,
multi megapixel digital photographer. It boasts even faster data transfer rates
and allows you to shoot more high resolution images for longer.
The new media has been developed to potentially support capacities up to 8GB,
expanding endless possibilities for the media format in the future. Shooting
versatility is enhanced through the panorama function while the available PC
Card adapter and USB card reader make it easy to transfer digital pictures,
movies and sound files to a computer.
A Compact Flash adapter which has been exclusively designed for the new media
is also available. This allows the xD-Picture Card to be inserted in cameras
with a Compact Flash slot. Olympus also offers a special xD-Picture Card holder
for protecting spare cards when travelling.
Since the appearance of the xD-Picture Card, the its capacity has risen
dramatically. The introduction and development of this new media is allowing
users to gain the full benefit of increasing camera resolutions and the new
