With Winter being in full swing and Christmas already knocking on our doors, it’s time to slowly inhale, relax and ponderate for one last time, before the time of never-ending celebrations get the best of us. To spread a sense of calm and at the same time, fill you with inspiration, has compiled a list of some rather amazing winter scenes captured on camera. These picturesque representations reveal everything there’s to love about this season and all in some way are tranquil, harmonious and hardly a living soul in a sight - Bliss!

This shot's a bit bitter and rough, so much so that you can almost hear the wild wind reaping. The purple shade is wonderful, if a little mysterious. A perfect compromise between the hazardous lower part and the auspicious blue of the sky!

When the first glimpses of green appear it always feels like the first invigorating breath of Spring has arrived. After Christmas and New Year’s eve, this is the next thing to look forward to as a photographer - the rebirth of life once again.

Considering the texture, these could be mistaken for dunes in a hot desert where a steep wind rushes over, lifting puffs of sand in the air. But the blue and white shades tell you otherwise, creating a sense of bitterness in this arctic-inspired scene that won't tolerate the presence of a human for too long.

Winter lake

We're sure hardly anyone would reject an offer to spend some time in a house by a lake like shown in the shot above. With every reason to stay inside, it’s places like these where you fall in love with life, away from everything yet at the centre of it all.

Winter church

This lonesome church sat in a snowy landscape is very Icelandic and it was actually captured in the far north of the country and like most landscapes captured on Icelandic soil, it shouts winter, emptiness and really captures the crispness of the season.

Landscape in winter

Winter can be pretty underrated as a season for exploration but you really should pack a camera bag, fill up the thermos and surround yourself in the comfiest of coats as this season is bursting with photographic potential.

Misty winter morning

This is a perfect example of what going out and capturing images during Winter can lead to. This shot is an encapsulation of the cold and misty Winter mornings some of us love to wake up to. Just remember to wrap up warm and also take the time to enjoy the scenery. You could even enjoy a mug of cocoa out of your flask while you enjoy the view.

This little Winter photo selection from serves to inspire and persuade you that actually, embracing this season is something all photographers should be doing. After all, you could capture the perfect Winter-themed image that will look brilliant as wall art framed in your cosy living room.
