The selection tools in Adobe Photoshop are getting an upgrade with the introduction of a machine learning, AI-powered Object Selection tool.

Meredith Stotzner from Adobe has been showing Adobe fans how the new selection tool works in a sneak peek video over on the Adobe Photoshop YouTube channel and what we've seen so far looks impressive.

The Object Selection tool 'snaps' to the object you want to select so you can simply click and drag a square/rectangle shape around your object with a Marquee or Lasso selection (no more dragging around the edges of objects). You can also deselect or add more to your selection really easily.

Click 'play' on the video as it's easier to understand how it works when you see it in action.

You'll be able to find the new tool where the Quick Selection and Magic Wand Selection tools are housed but when it'll be added we're not sure. Adobe has just said 'coming soon' so maybe it'll be in the next update?

This isn't the first time we've seen clever technology at work in Photoshop as last year, Adobe improved the Content-Aware Fill tool when they released the update for Photoshop CC
