Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020

Quick Verdict

Adobe Photoshop Elements is still an excellent choice for those looking for basic photo editing software that's simple to use, offers guidance and automated tools for editing photos.

The new creations and tools are cool features and the addition of 5 new guided edits will mean those who new to photo editing can learn even more techniques. Selections have got easier and having the ability to colourise old photos is fun.

We 'Highly Recommended' the previous version of Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 also comes 'Highly Recommended', too.

+ Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Guided Edits are great
  • Plenty of automated features
  • Clever AI
  • Fun & Creative tools
  • Quick to install and use
  • Price

- Cons

  • Some of the automated effects are a bit cheesy

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 is the latest version of Adobe's popular, standalone, photo editing software and with the update comes better performance, more features and AI Technology that makes editing photos a really simple process.

Photoshop Elements remains subscription-free (unlike other Adobe software) and the new version can be purchased for $99.99 which is around £80 (or you can upgrade to the latest release for £65).

To see how well the new version performs, we're putting the new features that are built into the software to the test. If you do want to read a more detailed description of what Photoshop Elements is, who it's aimed at etc. have a look at our previous reviews (Elements 14Elements 15 and Elements 2019) which go into the overall workings of the software (it's not actually changed that much so we'd just be repeating ourselves).

For those who just want a quick overview, Adobe Photoshop Elements is a consumer-based photo editing software that's easy to use and aimed at those who value ease of use/automation but are also ambitious to learn more about the photo editing process.

As a 'con' - Some of the effects are cheesy is quite a cheesy statement - it is not compulsory to use them, they do not affect one's editing and they don't add to the cost, so they really have no impact unless used and then that's down to user preference and you are taking liberties with other peoples opinions if you damn them for that.

It would be helpful if, when reviewing updated packages, you mention which version of raw it supports.
