The Art Photo Sketch allows you to turn your photos in to art sketches with a choice of different styles. You can also choose a canvas or add a border. Images can also be edited with options such as contrast, sharpen, simplify image, increase luminosity and colour saturation. The Art Sketch Photo app is available from the iTunes Store for £1.49.

Art Photo Sketch Performance

When you enter the app there are a number of options along the top. The first one takes you to the camera so you can take a picture within the app to edit it. The second one takes you to your camera roll so you can edit a picture previously taken. The third is settings, you can choose your image size and log out of Facebook, Twitter and Flickr if you have used them to upload pictures. The fourth button is where you go to save your pictures or upload them to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Instagram, or email. The fifth option creates a random select of effect, border and canvas, with the last option reseting the image back to its original.

At the bottom of the screen is where the editing options lie, split into effects, frames, canvas and paint. The paint menu can also be pulled in from the left hand side. When you choose an effect you'll get an option to customise further, for example, if you choose the tradition effect, you can amend the colour, detail, brightness and contrast using sliding scales. The borders and canvases don't allow any further editing. The paint option is strange and it can't really be used to create anything to enhance your photos, it's more likely to appeal to kids. The app would be just as good, if not better, without it.

Art Photo Sketch Verdict

The Art Photo Sketch app isn't likely to appeal to keen iPhoneographers but does have a decent range of effects, borders and canvases and saves in full resolution. You can also save to the more popular social networking sites from within the app. At £1.49, we'd expect more features and better results.
