Asus have announced the ZenFone 6 in Valencia, featuring a flip camera module with a 48 megapixel Sony main camera and 13 megapixel 125 degree ultrawide secondary camera.
| ASUS Zenfone 6 in Camera PhonesAsus have announced the ZenFone 6 at a press conference in Valencia, further reaffirming the latest trend in smartphone camera technology - the flippable, or pop-up camera.
Having a flippable camera means that the phone can have an uninterrupted screen with zero notches or hole-punches to allow for a front facing camera.
Flippable camera module for equal front and rear image taking performance
We've already seen a pop-up camera module in the Huawei P Smart Z, released earlier in May, and the OnePlus 7 Pro. However the Asus ZenFone is different - a 180 degree flippable module at the top of the phone allows you to use the same powerful 48-megapixel main camera and 13 megapixel 125 degree wide-angle camera for your selfies as well as your outward image-taking.
The camera module features a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 main camera and 13-megapixel 125 degree ultrawide secondary camera.
Massive 5000 mAh battery life
The Asus ZenFone 6 is a flagship model, with a whopping 5000 mAh battery, which they say can allow for 2 days use. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset for super speedy performance and a 6.4-inch notchless NanoEdge allscreen display featuring Corning GorillaGlass 6.
“We confronted four of the most fundamental challenges of smartphones: screen, camera, battery, and performance. We believe we provided the best ever and most extraordinary solution. ZenFone 6 is designed to defy the ordinary without compromise.” - Asus chairman Jonney Shih
Pricing will start at £499 for the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM option, rising to £599 for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
