Asus ZenFone 6 Vs OnePlus 7 Pro: Which One Takes Better Photos? - Side-by-side Comparison

We've captured the same/similar shot with each smartphone so you can see which device captures better photos. Various scenes have been captured so you can get a better understanding/overview of how each smartphone performs.

Both smartphones have done a pretty good job at capturing this image but the colours and dynamic range in the OnePlus 7 Pro image are better. There's more detail in shadow areas and the whole image is just much brighter. 

Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro

Again, the OnePlus 7 Pro image is more appealing as it's brighter and has better levels of detail. The Asus ZenFone 6 appears to have underexposed the shot slightly.

Even though the OnePlus 7 Pro selfie has better exposure levels, the Asus ZenFone 6 has captured a better-looking selfie. The distance between smartphone and subject is better and the colours aren't as washed out. Both smartphones have done a good job at adding bokeh without clipping the subject, though, and there's a good amount of detail in both. 

Winner: Asus ZenFone 6 

OnePlus 7 Pro

It's pretty close with these two shots but the OnePlus 7 Pro just pips the Asus ZenFone 6 to the post as it's exposed better and everything is just that little bit sharper when you look closely.

You don't even have to look that closely to see that the image captured with the Asus ZenFone 6 is better exposed with more detail in shadow areas. In fact, the OnePlus 7 Pro image looks rather terrible at the side of the Asus ZenFone 6 photo.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has done a better job at handling the dynamic range in the shot here with more detail in both the highlights/shadows. There's also more definition, particularly in the leaves on the trees in the background. It's sharper, too.

At first glance, both look pretty good but the centre of the OnePlus 7 Pro's image is out of focus. The backgrounds in both images have a lovely level of blur, though, and colours are accurate. 

Winner: Asus ZenFone 6 (just)

Both shots have issues as the OnePlus 7 Pro may have better colour accuracy but it's still a little warm while the Asus ZenFone 6 image is rather toxic. Overall sharpness and detail level is better in the OnePlus 7 Pro image, too.

The colours, exposure levels and sharpness in both shots are good but the OnePlus 7 Pro is just a tiny bit sharper so it takes the win (just).

Video Comparison 

Asus Zenfone 6 - You can capture 4K videos at 60fps with EIS and there's also a slo-mo mode along with a Motion tracking option which actually changes the angle you're shooting at to keep a subject in the frame rather than just locking focus and ensuring exposure is correct. You'll have better luck with it when light levels are optimum but never-the-less it's nifty. As mentioned, you can also capture selfie videos in 4K which bloggers will like. 

OnePlus 7 Pro - Our video was captured handheld using the 4K 30fps options and the standard camera. You can also record using a 3x option, however, using this gives a blocky, pixellated look to the video, and simply looks like a crop from the centre of the frame, so is best avoided.
