The new chromogenic black and white emulsion has just been voted 'Best Black & White film' by the TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) panel of leading European magazine editors.
Said Ernesto Jaconelli, KPro's UK capture manager: "The TIPA honour coincides with this film's UK launch - and that's a remarkable achievement by our film scientists. Customers asked for a new black & white film that could still offer all the convenience of Portra colour negative films. Our response is award-winning Portra 400BW.
"It's a 400 speed, multi-purpose black & white emulsion that provides all the elegance of black & white and all the convenience of colour that photographers and labs need. It is designed for C-41 processing, alongside colour negative films, and can be printed on professional colour negative papers, including Portra, Supra and Ultra 111.
"Photographers who need traditional black & white paper prints will still
opt for our award winning T400CN
film."
He
added: "Portra 400BW is a superb emulsion for portraits, weddings and many
commercial applications and, thanks to Kodak's T-GRAIN technology, offers
extremely fine grain and sharpness with relatively high speed. Processing labs
can now provide a rapid turnaround with excellent black & white output in
their colour negative workflow, with no need for a dedicated
process."
