This week's Photo of The Week winner has been chosen and the accolade has been awarded to a rather unusual capture of a bat.
The image by ePz member suejoh is titled 'Long tongued bat' and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This is a rarely seen animal in photos especially when on the move. Bats are very secretive and so to be able to capture one in such sharp relief with good lighting and fantastic composure is no mean feat.
This image works on two levels - firstly we have the intriguing exotic flower with its rich colours and interesting textures, opening to invite the flying visitor. Secondly, we have the magnificent bat, which has been captured in a fantastic action pose heading for the tasty flower. The square crop works really well to give the image enough breathing space but also keep the two elements the centre of attention without wasting space. A once in a lifetime image expertly taken.
Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 32GB EVO MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all images that have been awarded the accolade in the POTW gallery.
