Backlit Black & White Railway Portrait Wins 'Photo Of The Week' Accolade

A brilliant example of street photography where the perfect combination of subjects, light and atmosphere have been combined to capture a cracking shot has won our first 'Photo of the Week' (POTW) prize of 2021. 

'About the railway - XXIX' by MileJanjic features strong silhouettes sat again a bright white sky and we love how the lack of colour means that shape and structure take centre-stage. Plus, the high contrast look works incredibly well to not only grab your attention but it helps create an atmosphere, too. 

The tracks and frames carrying the wiring guide the eye right through to the back of the shot while the gent on his bike adds a sense of narrative to the shot, leaving the mind wondering where he's going or ventured from. 

This image has all of the ingredients you need for the perfect street-style image and we're very happy to award it our first POTW award of the year.
