Beautiful Misty Sunrise Shot Awarded Photo Of The Week : peak inversion

This week, a stunning image of a sunrise in the Peak district has been chosen to win the Photo of the Week accolade.

The image, titled 'Peak Inversion' by member jasonrwl, was chosen by the team and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:

This is a really stunning image, with the bright yellows and oranges of the sky contrasting beautifully with the blues and blacks of the mist and the silhouetted ground.

The shutter speed used is just right to capture the mist rolling over the hills as the sun rises and it starts to evaporate. Interesting abstract shapes and textures are created by the clouds, forming an almost alien landscape over the hills.

Foreground detail is good too, with the textures of the trees on the hills adding further interest.
