The Sony Cyber-shot WX350 is a compact camera with an impressive 20x optical zoom lens, built-in optical image stabilisation, an 18-megapixel sensor, Wi-Fi, NFC (NFC helps you connect more quickly to a compatible smartphone), 10fps continuous shooting, and Full HD video recording. There are a number of creative effects available and the camera records Full HD video with stereo sound. Canon Powershot SX610 HS
The Canon Powershot SX610 HS features an 18x optical zoom lens, a 20-megapixel sensor and an improved grip. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC make it easy to transfer images as well as control the camera from your smartphone and connectivity is good. The battery life is a little short but can be extended to a much more impressive 400 shots when the ECO mode is enabled. With a stylish design, good handling and a reasonable price, the camera is very appealing.

Canon Powershot SX620 HS
The Canon Powershot SX620 HS is the updated version of the SX610 (above), and features a new 25x optical zoom lens, with optical image stabilisation, helping keep photos and video steady. The camera records FullHD video, and has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC. The lens is equivalent to 25mm at the wide-angle end of the lens. It's also available in red.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX220
The Sony Cyber-shot WX220 has a 10x optical zoom, 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, NFC, and Wi-Fi built-in. Tiny and fairly well made, the WX220 is ideal for travel thanks to its pocketable size and it has fun features including 360 Sweep Panorama and 50p Full HD video recording. It's a decently affordable zoom that's got plenty of features and captures decent images.

Canon IXUS 185
The Canon IXUS 185 is a pocketable point and shoot camera which features a 28mm equivalent, 8x optical zoom lens, a 20Mp sensor and a DIGIC 4+ processor. The Sony Cyber-shot W830 doesn't feature Wi-Fi and other connectivity options but is one of the cheapest compact cameras with optical image stabilisation. In good weather, the camera produces images with bright saturated colours, and images will look good when shared on social media websites, like Facebook. If you can avoid using higher ISO speeds, then the camera can produce good results.

The Nikon Coolpix W100 is waterproof to 10m, shockproof to 1.8m, features a 13.2-megapixel sensor, full HD video recording and a 3x optical zoom lens.
