If you're looking for a new monitor to improve your photo viewing experience, as well as your photo editing, then have a look at some of the best-selling monitors for photography in 2021. We've found options for all budgets.
| BenQ SW240 in Computers, Tablets and PDAsIf you're looking to get the best out of your photography, then the screen you use to edit your photos will play a big part in how you see your photos, and that's why having a high-quality monitor is important. You want your colours to look accurate, your brightness and contrast to look good, and your blacks to look black, and your whites to look white, and not slightly pink for example.
Before we dive into the monitors that we think are worth looking at, we'll go over some of the terms you may need to know:
- FHD or FullHD - this is the resolution of the monitor, 1920x1080, sometimes listed as 1080p
- 4K or UHD - a monitor with a resolution of 3840x2160 (2160p) - if you record 4K video then you'll want a 4K monitor so you can see all the detail in your footage
- IPS - IPS is the type of panel used in the monitor, and is generally of better quality than "TN", with better viewing angles and better colour reproduction
- TN - A type of panel used in a monitor, with lower colour quality, worse viewing angles, but can have higher refresh speeds
- VA - These panels give good colour reproduction and good viewing angles
- HDMI/DVI/VGA/Displayport - these are the different types of connections common on monitors, check what your computer supports to make sure you get a monitor with the right connections
Another thing to factor in is the ability to adjust the height and tilt of the monitor. Most of the best-selling, lower-priced monitors give limited adjustment and have a fixed height. If you're wanting to adjust the height, then you'll need to look at some of the more expensive options listed.
