Quick Verdict

If you don't think Billingham camera bags are beautiful things then you're probably in the minority as the craftsmanship is superb. The attention to detail on everything from the stitching to handles is excellent which means the overall finish is very impressive. The Billingham Hadley Small Pro camera bag looks exactly how you'd expect a premium camera bag to look and at £200, it needs to as some photographers may think it's a relatively large sum of money to spend on such a small camera bag. However, considering the high-quality materials, excellent construction, durability and overall finish, the saying 'you get what you pay for' does start to rattle around your head. Plus, you do get a 5-year warranty with Billingham bags.

For street photographers or those who travel frequently with 1 DSLR/lens or a compact system camera and a couple of small lenses, the Billingham Hadley Small Pro would be an ideal day bag that's practical as well as aesthetically appealing.

+ Pros

  • Exquisite design
  • Excellent construction
  • Nice size for travel
  • Care & attention obvious

- Cons

  • Feels weighty without kit in
  • Price is at a point that some may find expensive
  • Size vs price

British brand Billingham pride themselves on creating camera bags from the best material, with the help of some very skilled people to give you a premium product you'll always trust to protect your most precise kit. But at around £200, it can be a big investment for some photographers so we're putting the Billingham Hadley Small Pro to the test to see if the craftmanship is really worthy of its cost.

I acknowledge all the comments about quality, longevity etc...indeed, I have a medium sized Billingham bag myself (amongst a few others...ahem...) and endorse the observations about robustness, solidity etc. but...(always a “but”...)...in these “challenging” ? times I ponder on the thought that Billingham, with a big bold label, and recognisable design, indicates to those nefarious amongst our midst, that this is almost certainly a camera bag, with valuable “stuff” inside..
I now use a good quality bag with no external labelling...and regret the Billingham stays at home as a storage facility...

I have owned 3 Billingham bags for the last 30 years 2 original hadleys and a 335, I use one of the Hadleys all the time and the other as a spare which I’ve never used.
There bags are virtually indestructible. The 335 I use when I need to carry a lot more equipment.
The older hadleys don’t have a handle on them and no branding label on the outside so it just looks like a regular bag nondescript
