The company, which started life as a small sporting goods company in Chicago in 1939 and now has branches across the US and in five European countries, plans mini trade shows at its branches in London and Manchester.
Michele Channer, Calumet Photographic UK MD said: "This is a very special time for the company and we intend to make it a very special autumn for our customers too. After seventy years trading we continue to grow, adding new digital products and services to our stores and warehouses every day. Our ambition is to ensure that Calumet is ‘Where the pros go’ for the next seventy years and beyond.
From 10 am on Tuesday October 6th at Calumet’s flagship Drummond Street, Euston store and also on Thursday October 8 at the Manchester branch, key suppliers will be demonstrating their latest products including DSLRs, printers and lighting equipment – and the first hundred customers through the door at each location will receive ‘Goody Bags’ with a product value of £50.
Autumn workshops and events programme
After four years of planning, renowned photographer Mike Hacker (Hax) followed in the footsteps of 19th century explorer Joseph Thomson - the first European to travel through east Africa’s Maasailand. Hax captured stunning images from similar vantage points to the explorer and produced an HD video for The History Channel.
Now this outstanding collection of work together with a book launch will be shown at the Calumet Photographic Gallery at Drummond Street.
On the opening day (Sep 3) Hax will make a presentation on the expedition (4pm) before showing his film “Africa’s Greatest Explorer’ (The free show will be open until Sep 26. For more details go to www.throughmaasailand.com
