The Gigabyte G-cam is the first camera phone to provide images with such high resolution. The camera records images with a 5 megapixel CCD and can provide images up to 7 megapixels via interpolation.

If the camera on this phone really can produce quality images then we could soon see camera phones taking over the place in the market currently filled by conventional compact digital cameras.

Other features include:

2inch touch screen display
3.3x digital zoom
Mini SD compatible
Xenon flash tube (like found in conventional digital cameras)
Auto-focus
Exposure compensation
Three light metering modes
Adjustable ISO sensitivity
Scene program modes

It can also be connected directly to compatible printers, or to a television to share pictures with family or friends.

The Gigabyte g-Cam is currently only available in Taiwan and costs 13,900 Taiwanese Dollars (approx 238) but I'm sure it won't be long before similar gadgets start to appear in the UK.

I'm a bit suprised it's described as "the first camera phone to provide images with such high resolution."

The 8-megapixel Samsung SPH-V8200 exceeds this phone's resolution and was announceed quite a while ago.

I follow the Jeremy Clarkson principle - '...a phone is for voice communication. I'll use a camera to take pictures' (or some thing VERY close!!)
