Inkjet Printers

Canon S820 printerCanon has announced that the excellent photo quality print engine, used in the award winning Bubble Jet S800, will be used in the new Bubble Jet S820. With a UK price point at over 100 less than the S800, this printer is set to become one of the market's most affordable, highest quality and fastest photo printers available.

Outstanding Print Quality
The Bubble Jet S820 combines premium quality with high speed photo printing. Its high density print head is capable of delivering a silver halide quality, full colour, A4 print in just two minutes and a borderless 4'x6' full colour print in approximately one minute, making it up to three times faster than its closest competitor. Furthermore, the print head enables the S820 to fire four picolitre (4pl) ink droplets onto the page at a speed that is at least 40 per cent faster than its nearest competitor.

The S820 includes Canon's advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology to give the highest control of ink in terms of accurate dot placement, shape and density. The six colour ink system uses the world's lightest density inks and when combined with 2400x1200dpi resolution and ultra small 4pl drop size, the S820 gives grain-free photographs with up to 49 colour shades per pixel for unparalleled image depth.

The S820 print head has almost five times more nozzles than its nearest competitor and is therefore able to deliver far more ink droplets per second. By utilising one pass bi-directional printing in combination with a real 1200 dpi head featuring 1536 nozzles, the S820 is able to print one pass as the head moves from the home position and one pass as it returns. As the print head is capable of unparalleled accuracy when placing droplets on the paper, it requires fewer passes in order to deliver high quality prints. Not only does this greatly improve the speed of the printer it also produces crisp, vibrant photos.

Single Ink Technology
The new Bubble Jet S820 makes use of Canon's innovative Single Ink technology. Single Ink is extremely cost effective as it allows the ink tanks to be individually replaced as they are depleted, keeping ink wastage to a minimum.

Borderless Printing
The S820 offers true borderless printing making it possible to effectively print 'full-bleed' images that are indistinguishable from traditional prints.

The new printer engine allows totally borderless print output right up to the edge of the media and being capable of printing a 4'x6'print in approximately one minute, the S820 is set to be a winner in it's class.

Independent tests also confirm long photo life spans - upwards of 25 years' light fastness with Photo Paper Pro (subject to display conditions)*.

Compatibility and Software
The S820 is fitted with both Parallel and USB Interfaces making it compatible with Microsoft Windows95, Windows98, Windows Millennium Edition, WindowsNT4.0, Windows2000, Windows XP, Mac OS and Mac OSX.

To take full advantage of the S820's photo printing capabilities a comprehensive software suite is also included. Canon PhotoRecord allows multiple layout and auto scaling of images to different paper sizes and Canon ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) and Image Browser (Mac) provide archiving, retouching and slide show features. In addition Canon PhotoStitch allows multiple digital images to be combined to create one large panoramic image.

Additional image enhancement features include Image Optimizer, Photo Optimizer Pro and Vivid Photo technology.
The Bubble Jet S820 supports Exif 2.2 ** (also called 'Exif Print'). Exif Print is a standard for enhancing the communication between digital cameras and printers. Exif Print compliant digital cameras will record the shooting conditions
