The Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x extends to 280-560mm with the 1.4x extension enabled. Designed as a professional telephoto zoom suited to photojournalism, wildlife and sports photography, we had a chance to shoot with the lens and used the Canon EOS 1D-X.

The lens is compatible with the EF 1.4X III to extend the lens to 280-560, or 392-784 with the built in extender if additional reach is needed. It's also compatible with the EF 2.0X III to extend the lens to 400-800mm, or 560-1120mm with built in extender, although when using this combination, AF is not available when used in combination with internal 1.4x extender. The lens accepts drop in 52mm filters.

Focus was extremely fast when used in combination with the Canon EOS 1D-X, with AF tracking enabled to keep track of the high speed planes at the airfield.

I've been waiting for this lens to come out for some time to have a proper look at it & see a real review on it other than some of the ones that have been posted on pre-production models of it.
