I thought I'd compare the 100D to the 6D as both only have one centre cross-type AF point. the 6D has 11 not 9, but then its got a larger sensor.

The 6D also has and extra 0.5 fps - So all other specs almost identical apart from size and build materials.
Where the 6D is better is with pixel size and ISO range, 50 - 102400 not 100 - 25600.
It also has a touch screen and AF fine tune - but no built in Flash. The 6D also has Wifi and GPS.

So £569 RRP vs £1599 RRP - are those extra's really worth £1000?

Not in my opinion. Here it is 4 years later, and I've been researching this tiny camera. At the time of its release, I came near buying one, as I had read numerous reviews from experienced photographers who though it to be the perfect backup camera body to a Canon pro kit. They were very convincing. I am now thinking of getting one for special purposes that are difficult for my FZ1000 to handle, such as shallow depth of field. I think it would be perfect with the Canon 50mm f1.8 and a couple of the Sigma art lenses. Also ideal for family photography with a 50mm f1.8 on it. They're available now used at about half the original price.
