canonPress Release:

Canon iMage Gateway have announced the launch of a brand new ‘Video Podcast’ service at Photokina 2008. This exclusive online portal enables registered Canon product owners to easily share photos and movies with friends and family.

Available from December 2008, Canon iMage Gateway Video Podcast is a new online service that enables users to send movies shot on a Canon digital camera or digital video camcorder to their family and friends by using the mechanism of Podcast. Key features include:
  • Quick and easy way to share movies online
  • Compatibility with Apple iTunes, iPods and iPhones iTunes and iPod are trademarks of Apple Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries."
  • Automatic updates for Video Podcast Channel subscribers (via iTunes)
Movies shot on a Canon digital camera or camcorder can be quickly and easily uploaded and shared using the Video Podcast Utility. Once uploaded, family and friends are allowed to easily download the movies using iTunes and then easily transfer the movies to their iPhones and iPods to fully enjoy them anywhere.

Unlike some movie-sharing websites, Canon iMage Gateway is secure and exclusively available to Canon product owners. Users can specify which people or groups they want to share their movies with – offering complete flexibility. Once invited to join via email, family and friends can easily subscribe to a user’s Video Podcast Channel. As subscribers, their iTunes software will be updated every time new content is uploaded by the user.

Since its re-launch in 2007, Canon iMage Gateway has offered our customers a world-class digital photo experience, encouraging them to make the most of their Canon products,” said Christiaan Holman, New Media Manager, Canon Europe. “With the launch of the new Canon iMage Gateway Video Podcast service, we offer even more ways for Canon users to explore their products’ capabilities.
