Canon Introduce The Canon EOS R7, Canon EOS R10 & Two RF-S Lenses

Canon is set to release two new cameras and two new lenses, expanding the Canon R mirrorless range to include the APS-C crop format which means the cameras can be lighter and smaller, have a lower cost and the 1.6x crop factor gives a field of view that is narrower which is a great advantage for sports and wildlife photographers looking at distant subjects.

Expanding the Canon ROS R range, the Canon EOS R7 updates the Canon EOS R6 while the new Canon EOS R10 is a less expensive, 'all-round camera'. Plus, alongside the new cameras, Canon has updated the RF-S range of lenses with the RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and the RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.7 IS STM.

Standard RF lenses can also be used on the Canon EOS R7 and EOS R10 but the two new RF-S lenses take advantage of the smaller format and are smaller, lighter and less expensive.

Lens wise, standard RF lenses can be used directly with the new models as the mount is the same but Canon EOS lenses can also be used vis the EF-EOS R mount adapter.

The Canon EOS R7 is priced at £1349.99 body only or it's available with the 18-150mm kit lens for £1699.99 while the Canon EOS R10 is priced at £899.99 body only or there are two kit lens options: 18-45mm combo at £999.99 or the 18-150mm combo available for £1249.99. 

The lenses on their own are priced at £319.99 for the Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and the Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.7 IS STM can be purchased for £519.99.

As new models in the EOS R Range, the EOS R7 and EOS R10 inherit the intelligent autofocus technology featured in Canon’s high-performance full-frame models to the APS-C format. Both cameras feature Touch and Drag AF, whilst EOS R7 makes history as the first camera in the EOS R System to have a combined AF multi-controller and control wheel. Offering class-leading performance to capture the moment with ease, EOS R7 and EOS R10 have the fastest continuous mechanical shutter of any APS-C EOS camera at 15fpsiii, as well as 30fps and 23fps electronic shutter. The EOS R7 offers a maximum of 1/8000th second mechanical shutter speed and 1/16000th for electronic shutter, effectively freezing fast-moving objects whilst in motion. Powered by the latest DIGIC X Processor, these are highly responsive cameras capable of high-speed image processing. The addition of a 30fps RAW burst mode allows photographers and creators to work with the images captured during continuous shooting as a movie file, for simple frame selection.
