Canon has officially launched the RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM and RF 85mm F1.2L USM DS lenses which were first announced in February when Canon unveiled its lens roadmap plan for 2019.

The RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS is the same lens as the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM lens we have already reviewed apart from it adds a DS coating. 'DS' stands for 'defocus smoothing', which means that the lens should give out of focus areas in the shot a different look to normal bokeh.

Both lenses join the already announced RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS USM and RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS USM, first seen at TPS 2019, which arrived in August alongside a firmware update for the Canon EOS R and EOS RP. 

 The RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM weighs approximately 1,070g and is 146mm long (at its shortest) which is around 28 per cent lighter and 27 per cent shorter than the existing EF mount model. It's also the first RF lens with a white heat shield coating and it also supports an electronic floating focus control that drives the two lens groups individually with Dual Nano USMs. Other features include 5-Stop IS, Dual Pixel CMOS AF, movie AF and image AF. An SWC coating is also used to reduce flare/ghosting. 

Both lenses are dust and water-resistant and feature customisable controls rings so you can assign aperture, shutter speed, ISO speed, and exposure compensation settings as needed.
