Canon PowerShot G3 X Has 1.0-type Back-Illuminated Sensor

Canon has announced the PowerShot G3 X, its first superzoom compact camera to feature a 1.0 type back-illuminated CMOS sensor.

Canon has announced a new 25x optical superzoom camera which is the first compact from Canon to feature a 1.0-type back-illuminated CMOS sensor. 

The PowerShot G3 X has a DSLR level of manual control and a 20.2 megapixel sensor. There is also a 9 blade f/2.8-5.6 aperture lens. The camera is powered by a DIGIC 6 processor for extreme speed and confidence shooting in low light. This is also helped by a max ISO of 12800.

Compact BK BCK

The G3 X offers continuous shooting at 5.9 shots a second and fast autofocus. It also captures Full HD movies, with variable frame rates from 24p up to 60p with manual control of the aperture, shutter and ISO. There is also a live HDMI output.

The 3.2 inch tilt touch screen has a large 1.62 million dot resolution. The G3 X also has a smooth action lens control ring which can be assigned to different functions such as focus. It has a dust and drip-proof body allowing you to shoot in a variety of weather conditions. 

The PowerShot G3 X will be available for £799 from mid July 2015.
