Canon irista

Canon has announced that it will be closing its Irista cloud photo service on 31 January 2020.

Irista, which was announced in 2014, was marketed as an 'advanced, cloud-based image management platform allowing users to access, enjoy and manage their photo libraries like never before'.

You could get up to 10Gb of storage for free, with 50GB and 100GB packages priced ad £45/£99 for the year. As to why they have decided to close the service, Canon stated:

"Canon EMEA will move away from the cloud image storage industry and instead, focus on investing in its imaging technology and connected services that sit closer to its cameras, such as Canon image Gateway and Canon Camera Connect."

A free 2-month membership of Adobe Lightroom (1TB)

Canon say the closure enables them to partner with experts in end-user services, and so every user of Irista can get a complimentary 2-month membership of Adobe Lightroom (1TB).

All customer data will be deleted on 31 January 2020, so users are being encouraged to download all their data from Irista before this date.
