Canon Zoemini S Performance

When the Zoemini S prints an image, it likes to think about it a lot before anything happens, and this could impact you if you want to shoot lots of photos at once. If you press the shutter again while a photo is still printing, the image will be queued up and printed when the last images have finished.

Photos offer reasonably bright colour reproduction in good lighting but the camera can struggle in very contrasty situations - when shooting with a bright window in the background there was a lot of flare. In low light, images can appear a little dull.

The photos once printed to have a tendency to curl up, if they're not kept in a photo album or used as stickers. It can be difficult to accurately frame images using the viewfinder, which is off to the right-hand side. The camera gets quite warm when used several times in a row.

It's frustrating that only images that are printed can be saved to the SD card - we tried to take photos without film in the camera to see how it performs digitally but this wasn't possible. So we printed out a few snaps to test the camera's digital performance:

Images are cropped slightly when printed, due to the size of the prints. Image quality is poor at the edges of the frame, and a lot of flare and aberration is visible in contrasting areas. Sharpness is fair in the centre of the image.
