Samsung NX cameras are ideal for shooting speed. The NX300, for example, features a new, ultra-sensitive 20.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and an advanced hybrid autofocus system. This combined with a 1/6000 shutter speed setting means that keeping up with the action is no problem for the NX300.
Here are some top tips for capturing better speed photos:
Pan - It can help to pan with your subject - this is the art of swinging your body, or a tripod head along with the object as it moves to keep it in the frame. This can help to stop your subject whizzing out of frame before you get the shot. For more tips on panning, take a look at ePHOTOzine's technique section.
Be Prepared - Knowing where your subject is going to be will help you to position yourself accordingly to get the best shot possible. For track running, or circuit racing, this is pretty simple, and it's just a matter of focusing on the racing line to get the shot. If your subject is more erratic, like a wild animal, it'll be worth doing some research to find out where the animal is likely to appear and at what time roughly, so you can be prepared to photograph it.
Blur or no blur? - Sometimes, blur can be useful in speed photos as it adds a sense of movement to the image. For example, capturing the movement of turning wheels on a car and turning it into circular blur will emphasise the sense of speed you're trying to capture. However, sometimes speed can be portrayed just as well by freezing the action, for example if an animal is mid jump or a human mid stride. Try slightly adjusting the shutter speed up and down until you have the amount of blur in the photo that seems right for your subject.
