World Photo Day

World Photo Day, 19 August, is an event celebrating the anniversary of the first practical photographic process patent in 1839.

The aim is to unite local and global communities in a worldwide celebration of photography. You can participate in the event as a business, community or as an individual. You can submit a photo to the open gallery, until 26 August 2014.

There are events happening all over the world to celebrate the day, and you can check the calendar on the World Photo Day website to see what events are happening near you.

Founded in 2009, the event is a celebration of all things photography. The first global online gallery was hosted in 2010.
